World Down Syndrome Day

Today is World Down Syndrome Day and I have someone very special to celebrate. I can't hardly believe it's been over 10 years now since God blessed me with Tanner! Tanner has been one of the most precious gifts that God has ever given me, and I still wonder what in the world I done to deserve it! When the Doctor gave us Tanners diagnosis when he was only a week old I felt like we experienced another death,  how did this happen to me? Not that I thought I had been so great but we had just buried his twin brother and now you tell me Tanner has DS,  how unfair is that! Wow when I look back to those feelings of hurt and anguish I have to say if I had known then what I know now I would have smiled when they told me the diagnosis. Tanner has made my life so special,  I would not change him for the world. Oh so you are saying there are no challenges with raising a child with special needs?....no I'm not saying that but I can definitely say that the good days by far outweigh the bad days. Everything that Tanner learns,  every milestone he reaches is celebrated,  we appreciate the small things that most parents overlook......I love celebrating Tanner and all the things he learns and he loves it too!! He is loving,  caring,  sweet, (a little stubborn sometimes too) he is funny,  smart and so much fun to be around! Tanner can read,  write,  count, he is doing great in math and learning more everyday. He has already learned more than I ever imagined he could,  I am so proud of him! Today has been a good day and when I looked at Tanner today I had to ask God again,  why did you choose me to raise someone so special,  I don't know the answer but I do know that I am so happy that God chose me!!!! We love you Tanner!!!!

Rock the socks for World Down Syndrome Day!

A special day!

Yesterday Tanner celebrated his 10th Birthday.... it's so hard to imagine that he could be that old! Tanner has brought a joy to my life that I could have never imagined. After receiving Tanner's diagnosis of Down Syndrome I felt like I had been done wrong, but I was so wrong! Tanner is the most perfect little boy God could have gave me,  I could not be prouder of him and I am so happy he is my son! Tanner's Birthday is always bittersweet considering it's also the anniversary of the loss of Tanner's twin brother Reagan. I have a memory picture album of Reagan in our living room, and yesterday afternoon I walked in there and seen Tanner setting there looking at the picture book,  he rarely does that and I thought it was special since it was their Birthday.....it made me wonder what he was thinking. Thank you God for Tanner,  and thank you God that he is just like he is!

We are home!

We made it home from Utah last week! We are so happy to be home! Paislynne is doing wonderful and we are so in love with her, Tanner loves baby sister too!! We got home just in time before a massive snow storm hit, we got at least 10 inches of snow here Sunday night... I am so glad we were able to get home before the storm hit. We are still trying to get settled in... coming home from a long trip is one thing, but coming home from a long trip with a new baby is really interesting,  the getting unpacked and settled in has been an adventure for sure! We are still in a bit of shock that we have her,  God is so good......it amazes me how much he loves and cares for us..... He certainly gave us the desires of our heart,  she is perfect and we feel so complete. We look so forward to life with her and Tanner,  what precious children God has blessed us with!

Tanner and Paislynne

Tanner is warming up to Paislynne,  he wasn't sure what to think about it all when he arrived here in Utah last Saturday. He worries about her when she cries,  we are trying to help him understand she is ok and that it is normal for babies to cry. We feel we have a great adventure awaiting us with these two special children God has blessed us with! We look forward to the future! We are still in Utah,  we were cleared by Utah and Kentucky on Wednesday but we have to meet with our Judge on Monday before we can head home. We are very anxious to get home and settled in. We also have alot of Family and Friends anxiously waiting to meet her.

We took Tanner to the Wheeler Historic Farms here in Utah, he loves animals,  he had a fun afternoon!

Home away from home!

Home2 Suites in West Valley,  Utah was the first place we took Paislynne Tuesday night after taking custody of her. The hotel was perfect for what we needed, and the staff was exceptional! We had to leave that location on Friday and move to another Home2 due to the fact that they were booked. We arrived there as guests, but we left there as friends. Lu Ann is the Assistant General Manager at the West Valley Location, while we were out Saturday grabbing something to eat she came to our hotel and dropped off a wonderful gift for Tanner and Paislynne, we have never had such a great experience with the staff at a Hotel,  they go above and beyond. If you are ever in the Salt Lake City area,  stay at Home2 Suites in West Valley,  Utah!!
